An indulgent Halloween treat that combines the classic flavors of red velvet cake with a rich cheesecake layer.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, combine the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy.
  8. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  9. Once the cake is cool, spread the cream cheese mixture on top.
  10. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
