  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 pound pappardelle pasta
  • grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and pork over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery; cook until vegetables are softened.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  6. Cook the pappardelle pasta according to package instructions.
  7. Serve the bolognese sauce over pappardelle and garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, let the sauce cook longer.
