- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
- ½ cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt for topping
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into pieces and wrap around mozzarella sticks, sealing the edges.
- Boil water in a large pot and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds on each side.
