- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
- Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
- Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one layer on a serving platter and drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips.
- Top with the second layer and repeat the process, finishing with a drizzle of caramel on top.
