A rich and decadent chocolate turtle cake that will satisfy your sweet cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, place one layer on a serving platter and drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips.
  8. Top with the second layer and repeat the process, finishing with a drizzle of caramel on top.

Notes

  • For an extra chocolatey flavor, add chocolate frosting on top.
  • Let the cake sit for a few hours for better flavor blending.
