  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine apple slices with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the crumb topping by blending butter, flour, brown sugar, and baking powder.
  4. Fill a pie crust with the apple mixture and sprinkle the crumb topping over it.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool before serving.
